Yogesh Bachhav Kills Jyotsna Bagul

20-year-old computer engineering student was allegedly stabbed to death by her cousin as his marriage proposal was turned down by her family.
The assailant, Yogesh Bachhav (25), an employee of General Motors, stabbed Jyotsna Bagul on a busy road at Chinchwad on Friday morning. Bachhav also attacked Jyotsna's classmate Sadhana Godse (21) before turning the knife on himself. But, he survived.
In his statement to the police at the hospital, Bachhav said he killed Jyotsna as her family had "tarnished" his image iby rejecting the marriage proposal. He also said he did not want to live any more. Jyotsna's father, Karbhari Bagul, who
rushed to Pune from Nashik, blamed the police for failing to act upon three complaints lodged by him and his daughter against Bachhav. He said, "Bachhav is my cousin's son. Initially, we had accepted his marriage proposal. Later, however, we decided against the match as he did not want Jyotsna to continue with her education after marriage. Bachhav started threatening us after that. We filed three complaints against him at the Chinchwad police station. But the police did nothing."
Sanjay Sarkale, head constable of the Chinchwad police station, was suspended and inspector Rajendra Sawant and assistant police inspector Vishwas Jachak, both from the Chinchwad police station, were attached to the control room.
Jyotsna and Sadhana were on their way to college on her Scooty Pep when Bachhav intercepted them on his motorcycle. He pulled out a chopper and a knife from the carrier and slashed Jyotsna on the neck. When she fell, he stabbed her in the chest and stomach, killing her on the spot.
