Ruling out an alliance with any party for the Lok Sabha elections, BSP chief Mayawati on Sunday indicated that the question of prime ministership will be decided with the Third Front parties after the elections in a bid to keep Congress-led UPA and BJP-led NDA out of power.
Addressing a press conference here, Mayawati said tonight’s dinner she is hosting for Third Front leaders will neither discuss the question of prime ministership nor the front’s electoral strategy, but would definitely discuss plans to keep UPA and NDA out of power.
“BSP has decided to contest the elections to the 15th Lok Sabha all alone in all the states and it will have no electoral alliance with any party before the polls,” Mayawati said.
“However,” the BSP leader said, “we will think of a post-poll tie-up after the election results are out in an effort to defeat UPA and NDA’s designs to come to power.”
Stating that her plans for a dinner meeting with the Third Front leaders at her new residence in the capital was certainly on, the BSP leader clarified that the meeting would not discuss the issue of prime ministerial candidate for the Front.
