Ruby Dhalla, a Canadian MP of Indian origin, has become involved in a very 'steamy' controversy. Featured in Maxim magazine, as one of the world’s sexiest politicians, Dhalla has allegedly featured in some 'hot' scenes, in a movie titled 'Kyon Kis Liye'. The scenes, from the movie in which she is believed to have acted in 2003 - before her election to the parliament, have been shot with the film's producer and co-star Charanjit Sihra. The film was shot in Hamilton, near Toronto, and is based on the local Sukhinder Dhillon murder case.
Right now, 35-year-old Ruby Dhalla is in a legal battle with the film's producer, to stop the distribution of the films' DVD. She claims that she is not the one who has enacted those scenes. Rather, the scenes in the film and distribution posters, for the film's DVDs, have been 'doctored', with the aim of maligning her reputation. Dhalla has maintained that, in the scenes, her face has been put on someone else's body. Dhalla further elaborated that she has never ever worn the kind of clothes shown therein.
Earlier shown in Toronto and India, 'Kyon Kis Liye' is now being pushed to wider audiences, through DVD distribution, by the producer. While Dhalla claims to have issued notices to the producer, through her lawyers, to cease using her name, image and involvement, the latter continues to do so. On the other hand, we have Charanjit Sihra saying that Dhalla, herself, gave her consent for the distribution of the film's DVDs, that too in writing. He claimed to have first met Dhalla in 1993, after she became a runner's-up in Miss India-Canada contest.
