State-run National Aviation Co. of India Ltd, or Nacil, which operates Air India, on Thursday announced special summer fares in four levels—Rs1,891, Rs2,276, Rs2,611 and Rs2,901—across its 148 domestic destinations. The special price tickets, which must be booked at least 30 days in advance, are available through 30 June.
Also on Thursday, private sector carrier Jet Airways (India) Ltd re-introduced a special offer of a 10% discount on base fares for all female passengers who book tickets online. The offer is open till 31 March.
Nacil’s special fares come after Jet Airways and its low-fare subsidiary Jet Lite (India) Ltd earlier in the week introduced all-inclusive low fares of Rs2,071 and Rs1,722, respectively, on all routes, provided bookings are made at least 30 days in advance.
Meanwhile, the hospitality industry, which too has been feeling the pinch of the downturn, is also cutting costs to attract guests. Hotel Leela Group, owned by Hotel Leelaventure Ltd, is offering summer specials at a 25% discount on rooms.
