Vincent Gilbert Shot Dead in Pimpri

Pune: The general manager of a logistics company at Khed near here was
shot at as well as attacked with a chopper while he was on his way to
work on Tuesday morning. Four people fired two rounds at 45-year-old
Vincent Gilbert's car in Pimpri and hit him with the chopper before
fleeing.
Late on Tuesday, Pimpri police arrested two persons,
Mahesh Shinde and Bachan Pandey, over the attack. Acting on Gilbert's
complaint, the police also booked Pradeep Pawar, district president of
the Maharashtra State Mathadi and General Labour Union, and four
others. Four police teams have been sent out to track down the five
men.
The police suspect the attack was a bid to pressure Gilbert to
employ members of the Mathadi labour union in his company, Chetak
Logistics. Gilbert sustained a severe injury on his left palm. He is
undergoing treatment at a hospital. Such was the scare created by the
incident that passers-by and other vehicles refused to respond to
Gilbert's pleas for help.
Police have booked labour union members as they suspect that the
assailants wanted to pressure Vincent Gilbert into employing their men
in his firm
