Hundreds of students appearing for both Comed-K and Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) are in a dilemma as both major entrance exams are scheduled on the same date — May 17.
Parents too are worried as they feel that if his/her child had not performed well in one entrance test then they could at least opt for another — but now that option is not available.
“I tried contacting CLAT and Comed-K officials but it was futile. By keeping both the entrance exams on the same date, they are spoiling the chances of the children,” an agitated mother said.
Even as many parents echoed similar opinion, a few said their children made their choice.
“My son wanted to write both the exams but since both fall on the same date it’s not possible now. Moreover, he has been attending coaching classes for law. Hence, he has decided to write CET and CLAT and forgo Comed-K,” a parent said.
On the other hand, Comed-K too is tied down as they don’t have any other dates available for the test. “The test will be held in 168 centres with over 17,000 students writing it. Most of these centres will be free only on Sundays. Also, this year we had to change the date due to elections and May 16 is the last date for the election process. We selected the date only after thorough web search,” Comed-K executive secretary S Kumar said.
Professional colleges too are bound by strict academic calendars. Kumar said there are series of Supreme Court judgments, which have set deadlines for the completion of the admission. “We cannot deviate from the law.”
