Nine IAS officers, including three Deputy Commissioners of districts, and twenty Punjab Civil Service(PCS) officers were on Tuesday transferred by the Punjab government in a minor shake-up of the bureaucracy.
The Deputy Commissioners transferred include S S Gurjar of Ludhiana against whom action had been demanded about a fortnight ago by the Deputy Speaker of the state assembly Satpal Gosain, who had also demanded registration of a case against the IAS officer alleging that there were complaints of corruption against him.
Gosain, who belongs to the BJP-an alliance partner of the SAD-had sent a letter to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal saying that there were complaints of corruption against the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana.
The transfer orders issued here on Tuesday however did not state any reason for the transfer of Gurjar or the other IAS and PCS officers.
Gurjar has been made Special Secretary, Grievances and Vikas Garg, DC, Patiala has been moved to Ludhiana. Dipinder Singh, Secretary, Mandi Board has been posted as DC, Patiala in place of Garg.
