The father figure of Kannada film lyrics R.N.Jayagopal who had written 12000 songs in his 45 years of film career breathed his last at 10.30 am on Monday in Chennai hospital. He was 73. Son of veteran late R.Nagendra Rao the magnificent personality RNJ leaves behind his wife, son and grand children, brothers R N Sudarshan and R N Krishnaprasad.
From 'Premadha Putri' this diploma graduate in sound recording entered the cine field as lyricist. He has written dialogue for over 120 films has directed more than 10 films. The films he directed are Kesarina Kamala, Dhomakethu, Mareyadha Hadu, Avala Antharanga. He is the winner of state award for lyrics, direction and dialogues. RNJ was currently directing 'Ramayana' television serial for Udaya satellite channel.
Earlier to this he had directed 'Janani' television serial. 'Ramayana' was his cherished project. He opened RNR studio in his father name in last February at TVS Crossing in Bangalore and held an affectionate inauguration. He had plans to shoot the entire 'Ramayana' at this place. On the sets of this television serial shooting he was moved to MSRamaiah hospital and later shifted to Mother's Hospital in Chennai where he breathed his last.
