Emergency Landing at Delhi Airport | Indigo Flight Makes Emergency Landing

An aircraft of private airline Indigo on a scheduled from Goa to New Delhi made an emergency landing on Sunday after its pilot reported to the Air Traffic Control(ATC) that one passenger was misbehaving and creating trouble.

The aircraft(Flight No E-664) moved to the isolation bay at the IGIA airport after it landed around 5:30pm (local time). Security and aviation sources said the ATC was informed by the pilot about an unruly passenger allegedly creating trouble.

NSG commandos, CISF personnel manning the airport security and Quick response teams surrounded the aircraft at the isolation bay.

Earlier, reports said that the emergency landing could be part of a mock security drill to test the reactions of the response teams.

Aviation sources said the aircraft pilot first reported to the ATC that an unidentified passenger was behaving in an unruly manner. The pilot also told the ATC in a different radio frequency that the passenger had threatened to hijack.

The Airbus A 320 aircraft had about 150 passengers on board. Flight operations at the airport were suspended for about 45 minutes before normalcy was restored.

Pilots of some aircraft were asked to hover over around Delhi airspace before they got permission to land in view of the emergency landing of the Indigo airplane.

Vinod Arora, a passenger of Spicejet aircraft, said that passengers in the airplane were not allowed to disembark for a couple of hours.
